MoVe Scooter Rental Inc.
Privacy Policy & Cookie Policy
Applies to the MoVe Scooter Rental mobile application, www.ridemove.ca, and related rental and customer support services.
Effective date: October 19, 2026 | Last updated: October 19, 2026
1. Introduction
MoVe Scooter Rental Inc. ("MoVe", "we", "us" or "our") respects the privacy of people who use our website, mobile application, shared e-scooters, e-bikes and related services (collectively, the "Services"). This Policy explains what personal information we collect, how and why we use it, when it may be disclosed, and the choices and rights available to you.
MoVe is a New Brunswick corporation with its office identified in its Rider Agreement at 407-1542 Champlain St, Dieppe, NB E1A 1R5. William Dingle is identified as the current owner and privacy contact for purposes of this Policy. Privacy inquiries may be submitted through www.ridemove.ca/support. This Policy should be read with the MoVe Rider Agreement and Liability Waiver.
2. Information we collect
Account and contact information: When you create or use an account, we may collect your name, date of birth or age-verification information, telephone number, email address, login details and emergency contact information where requested.
Ride and location information: We collect the device you rent, rental start and end times, trip duration, device status, parking confirmation or photographs, and location and route information needed to locate nearby scooters, navigate to a scooter, manage and document an active ride, administer rental charges, and address operational, safety or customer-support concerns.
Payment and transaction information: Stripe and Adyen are payment-processing providers used or planned for use by MoVe. Depending on the payment method and the processor handling a transaction, information may include billing details, payment status, processor-generated payment-method identifiers, charges, refunds and disputes. Card information submitted through a payment interface is processed under the relevant provider’s security and privacy arrangements; MoVe does not claim that it never receives any particular card data without verifying its implementation.
Support and safety information: We collect messages, complaints, photographs, incident reports, service requests, identity-verification material when legitimately required for fraud or account security, and records of customer-support interactions.
Website, app and device information: Depending on the technologies enabled, we may receive IP address, device identifiers, browser or operating-system information, app version, access times, diagnostic records, crash reports, cookies or similar technical information. GoHighLevel supports website-building and customer communications or relationship management, and GoDaddy provides website hosting. Information submitted through website forms or customer contact channels may be stored in GoHighLevel for customer service, text messaging or telephone follow-up.
Communications preferences: We collect preferences and records relating to transactional notices, promotional messages and unsubscribe requests.
3. How we use information
We use personal information only for identified, reasonable purposes, including: creating and maintaining accounts; confirming eligibility to use the Services; locating, unlocking and managing vehicles; calculating fares and collecting payments; maintaining operational safety and geofencing; assisting riders and investigating incidents; handling refunds and disputes; securing accounts and identifying suspected fraud; maintaining, troubleshooting and improving the Services; keeping required accounting and business records; meeting lawful requests and regulatory obligations; and sending service notifications.
Where we send optional marketing messages, we will obtain any consent required by applicable law and offer an appropriate way to unsubscribe. Marketing is not a condition of renting a vehicle unless a particular communication is necessary to provide the requested Service.
4. Location tracking and permissions
When you use the app to find a scooter, location access helps show your position, nearby scooters and how to reach one. During an active rental, location information may be processed to display, manage and record the current trip, including its route, and to support applicable operational and safety features. Location access is not intended for continuous tracking when you are not using the app or taking a ride. The app may need to continue processing location in the background during an active ride, depending on its configuration and the mobile operating system.
Location permissions are requested through the app and your mobile operating system. You can manage permissions in your device settings, but disabling necessary location access may limit app or rental functions. During an active rental, the app may process location information while running in the background to support trip management, depending on app and device permissions.
5. Payments and fraud prevention
MoVe uses or plans to use Stripe and Adyen for payment processing. The processor handling your payment may receive information necessary for authorization, payment processing, refunds, chargebacks and fraud controls. We may also use relevant transaction information to investigate billing disputes and protect accounts. We do not sell payment information.
We may use account, device, payment and ride information to detect unauthorized account access, payment misuse, suspicious activity or theft, and to protect customers, property and the Services. If identity documents or images are requested for verification, we will limit their use and retention to legitimate verification, security and legal purposes.
6. Cookies, Website Analytics and Tracking Technologies
This section explains how cookies and comparable technologies may function on www.ridemove.ca and related website pages. It forms part of this Privacy Policy & Cookie Policy. Information collected through these tools that identifies or can reasonably be associated with an individual is treated as personal information under applicable privacy law.
6.1 What Cookies and Tracking Technologies Are
A cookie is a small piece of data a website asks a browser to store on a computer, phone or tablet. Cookies may be set by MoVe (first-party cookies) or by a service operating through our website (third-party cookies). Session cookies generally end with the browser session; persistent cookies can remain until their configured expiration or deletion.
Comparable technologies include pixels or web beacons, browser local storage, session identifiers, embedded content, tags and analytics scripts. Unlike cookies, some of these technologies may transmit information when a page loads or when a visitor takes an action. Their treatment depends on what information they collect and the purpose for which they are used.
6.2 Cookie Categories and Purposes
Essential, security and session technologies: These can support page delivery, website availability, fraud detection, spam protection, form submission, access controls and remembering a visitor’s privacy choices. Disabling them may prevent certain website functions from working.
Functionality and preference technologies: If enabled, these can remember a visitor’s selected language, region, accessibility preference or other website setting. Some functionality cookies may be optional depending on their purpose.
Analytics and performance technologies: If enabled, these can help MoVe understand which pages are visited, how visitors arrive, general device and browser characteristics, page performance, errors and navigation patterns. Analytics records may include online identifiers or IP addresses and may constitute personal information.
Advertising and campaign measurement technologies: If enabled, these can record responses to advertising or marketing campaigns and, depending on their configuration, support interest-based advertising or recognition across other websites. Such technologies are not essential for a visitor to read our website.
Communications and form technologies: Forms, chat interfaces, booking inquiries or support tools may use identifiers to preserve a submission, prevent repeated entries, route an inquiry or link an interaction to a customer-support record.
6.3 Website Providers and External Content
MoVe uses GoHighLevel for website-building and customer communications and GoDaddy for website hosting. When their services are involved in a website interaction, technical or contact information may be processed to deliver the requested function. Additional technologies may be present if MoVe enables analytics, advertising, embedded maps, videos, payment pages or social-media features.
ATOM Mobility supports the mobile application; mobile-app permissions and identifiers are addressed elsewhere in this Policy and are not identical to browser cookies. Stripe and Adyen may process payment-related information if a visitor enters a payment flow that uses one of those providers. Their independent pages may have their own cookies and privacy notices.
We do not state that every optional tool or cookie category described here is active at all times. The specific technologies present depend on the integrations and features enabled on the website.
6.4 Information Collected Through Website Technologies
Depending on the particular technology and the visitor’s interaction, data may include IP address; approximate location inferred from IP address; referring webpage; pages accessed; date and time of visit; browser, device and operating-system type; session identifier; interactions with forms or buttons; language choice; and campaign referral information.
When a visitor submits personal information through a website form or contacts MoVe, the information supplied may be associated with that visitor’s inquiry or account. We use the resulting information for the identified purposes described in this Policy and do not treat a browser identifier as automatically anonymous if it can reasonably identify or be linked to someone.
6.5 Canadian Privacy Law and Meaningful Consent
For personal information handled in commercial activities, MoVe applies the relevant requirements of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), including identifying reasonable purposes, limiting collection, meaningful consent, safeguards, access and correction rights, subject to applicable legal exceptions.
We will give visitors understandable information about significant collection, use or disclosure through cookies and similar technologies and obtain an appropriate form of consent where required. The appropriate consent mechanism depends on the sensitivity of the information, the reasonable expectations of the visitor and the tracking purpose. Optional behavioural advertising involving personal information must offer meaningful knowledge and choice.
Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) contains rules concerning installation of computer programs. It provides a form of deemed consent for cookies where a person’s conduct reasonably indicates consent, but that provision does not remove separate privacy-law requirements concerning personal information or marketing communications.
6.6 Optional Cookies, Consent and Refusal
Where the law requires prior consent for non-essential cookies or similar tracking, MoVe will request it before enabling the relevant technology. When cookie controls are made available, visitors may be offered categories such as essential, preferences, analytics and advertising, with an option to accept, refuse or adjust optional categories.
Refusing non-essential tracking should not prevent access to ordinary informational website pages solely because optional analytics or advertising has been declined. Essential technologies may continue where reasonably necessary to deliver a service, safeguard the website or remember a visitor’s choice.
Withdrawal of consent generally applies prospectively and does not undo processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Where a cookie-preference control is available, the visitor can use it to change choices; otherwise, the visitor may contact MoVe through the support link below.
6.7 Managing Cookies in Your Browser
Visitors can usually review, block or delete cookies through their browser’s privacy or site-data settings. Common browsers include Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge. Browser controls may allow deletion of all stored cookies or cookies belonging to a particular website, blocking third-party cookies or restricting future storage.
Clearing cookies can remove saved preferences and may require a visitor to re-enter details or make privacy selections again. Private-browsing modes and device-level privacy settings can offer further controls, although they do not necessarily prevent every form of online measurement. A browser’s “Do Not Track” setting is not universally implemented as a binding preference signal.
6.8 Retention and Cookie Expiration
Session identifiers are generally temporary. Persistent cookies and local-storage data can remain after the browser is closed until their configured expiration or until they are cleared or overwritten. Actual durations depend on the technology and provider configuration; some identifiers may be renewed on a later visit.
Personal information derived from tracking is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for identified purposes or as legally required, in accordance with Section 9. Deleting cookies from a browser does not automatically delete associated information already retained in MoVe’s systems or those of service providers; requests relating to such information can be submitted under Section 12.
6.9 Marketing, Profiling and Children
If MoVe uses advertising technologies to develop inferred interests, measure advertising across sites or deliver targeted ads, we will provide appropriate notice and meaningful control consistent with applicable law. We will not rely on difficult-to-remove identifiers or deceptive means to defeat a visitor’s privacy choice.
MoVe’s rental services are subject to the rider eligibility requirements described in Section 13. We do not intentionally use interest-based advertising technologies to profile children through the website. If we become aware of improper collection relating to an ineligible minor, we will assess and address it under applicable law.
6.10 Visitors Outside Canada
MoVe is established in New Brunswick, Canada, and its website is accessible internationally. The availability of our website does not mean scooter services are available in every country. When the law of a particular jurisdiction applies to tracking activities, MoVe will respect any mandatory requirements regarding notice, lawful basis, prior consent and withdrawal of consent. In particular, optional cookies may require prior consent under applicable European electronic-privacy rules when those rules apply.
Any applicable rights under foreign privacy laws are in addition to, and not displaced by, this Canadian policy.
6.11 External Links and Embedded Services
Following links to other websites, opening third-party payment interfaces, playing externally hosted content or using embedded services may expose visitors to independently operated technologies. Those services may have separate terms, privacy notices and consent controls. MoVe’s Cookie Policy does not determine the conduct of unrelated third-party websites.
6.12 Questions and Privacy Requests About Cookies
Visitors may ask about cookie use, tracking purposes, access to their personal information, correction of inaccurate information, and deletion where applicable through https://www.ridemove.ca/support. Please identify the message as a privacy or cookie inquiry. Additional details about privacy rights and request verification appear in Section 12.
7. Sharing of information
We share personal information, to the extent necessary for legitimate service purposes, with technology providers including ATOM Mobility (mobile app development and app/fleet-platform services), Stripe and Adyen (payment processing, as applicable), GoHighLevel (website-building, customer information and communications such as texts or calls), and GoDaddy (website hosting). These providers may have access to information relevant to the work they perform. We may also share limited information with professional advisers, insurers or operational contractors where appropriate, subject to applicable safeguards and law.
We may disclose information when permitted or required by law, in response to valid legal process, or where reasonably necessary to address safety incidents, suspected offences, enforceable claims or a legitimate dispute. A request from a third party does not automatically entitle that party to customer information.
If MoVe is involved in a financing, reorganization, merger or sale of assets or shares, information may be shared subject to applicable legal requirements and appropriate confidentiality and purpose restrictions. We do not treat a business transfer as permission for unrestricted use of personal information.
We do not sell customer personal information to data brokers. We will not provide rider information to unrelated parties for their independent marketing without an appropriate legal basis and required consent.
8. International processing
Some service providers may process or store information outside New Brunswick or Canada. Where that occurs, information may be subject to the laws and lawful access processes of the jurisdiction involved. We remain responsible for using appropriate contractual and other safeguards for information handled by service providers.
9. Retention and deletion
We generally retain customer account and associated app information while an account remains active, unless a shorter retention period applies or the information is no longer needed. Customer records may therefore remain on the app platform until the customer requests account deletion. This does not mean every type of operational log, backup or transaction record is stored indefinitely.
You may request deletion of your MoVe account and associated personal information through www.ridemove.ca/support. On a verified request, MoVe will arrange to close the account and delete or de-identify information that is no longer needed, including by coordinating with relevant service providers where applicable.
Certain information may need to be retained for legal, tax, accounting, payment disputes, fraud prevention, safety incidents or other lawful obligations. Where immediate deletion from provider backups is not technically possible, those records will be handled in accordance with applicable backup-retention processes and deleted or overwritten in due course.
We will explain any material exceptions when responding to your request.
10. Security safeguards
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, which may include access restrictions, authentication, secure transmission, staff confidentiality controls and monitoring. No electronic system can be guaranteed completely secure.
If a privacy breach occurs, we will investigate, take appropriate steps to reduce harm, and provide notifications or reports where required by applicable law.
11. Consent and choices
We seek meaningful consent when required, explain why information is collected, and limit mandatory collection to what is reasonably necessary to provide the requested Services or fulfill lawful obligations. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawal may prevent certain Services from operating, particularly when location or payment information is essential to a rental.
You may also change app permissions, adjust available marketing preferences, and unsubscribe from promotional electronic messages. Essential transactional, safety and account-security messages may still be sent as appropriate.
12. Access, correction and privacy requests
You may request access to personal information held by MoVe, seek correction of inaccurate information, ask about our collection, use and disclosure practices, withdraw consent where applicable, or raise a privacy concern. We may need to verify your identity before responding. Access may be subject to lawful exceptions, and we will explain any refusal as required by law.
Submit access, correction or deletion requests through www.ridemove.ca/support and identify the request as a "Privacy Request" or "Account Deletion Request". We may ask for reasonable verification before processing a request. MoVe will respond within applicable legal time limits and explain any lawful limitation on the request.
13. Children and rider eligibility
The Services are not intended for individuals who do not meet the applicable age and eligibility requirements. The Rider Agreement requires account holders to be at least 19 years old. This Privacy Policy does not alter those eligibility requirements.
We do not knowingly invite ineligible minors to register for rentals. If we learn that an ineligible minor supplied personal information in an account, we will review and address the account and data in accordance with applicable law.
14. Third-party links and services
Our Services may link to websites, applications or payment interfaces operated by third parties. Their separate privacy practices may apply when they act independently of MoVe. We encourage you to review their notices.
15. Changes to this Policy
We may revise this Policy as our services, technologies or legal obligations evolve. We will post the updated Policy with a revised effective date and provide additional notice or obtain renewed consent where required for material changes.
